Wellness travel remains a top priority for me throughout my travels. I try to make sure that my spa getaways move me forward on my wellness journey both physically and mentally these days.

Luckily during the pandemic –  I pivoted my little conglomerate (as my BFF calls it), and focused on many other aspects of my business. I visited and shared many local locations for my travel writing, included my dogs (my co-workers) as much as possible in my content creation and worked on my own writing by signing up to be a content writer with top content. This has helped me focus more on my writing during this unprecedented pause in the world and renew the author in me.

Now that my business and my writing are in a better place and more sure-footed as ever – I am able to focus again on exploring the world for remarkable spas and wellness experiences.

Wellness Focus

Speaking of the pause, with it has come an increased emphasis on wellness, rejuvenation and restoration for a larger group than before. Those looking for this type of wellness focused getaway are still concerned about health and safety.

To accommodate spa getaways that offer a private or crowd-free element, many unique luxury destinations from the world are offering a way to experience wellness. One that I myself have had the chance to experience during my spa travel days. I am so excited that more resorts and unique accommodations are not embracing this experience.

A Night at the “Spa”

I like to think of spending the night in a spa like “spending the night at a museum. I have spent the night in many places, spas, museums, a working monastery, a private island, a French Barge and many other unique places. I can’t wait to add more spa nights to my Goblet List.

While reviewing my emails today, I fell upon a few luxury spa hotels offering spa getaways that tickled my spa travel loving fancy. Take a look and see if you would like to add one to your future travel list! They offer a few unique types of spa accommodations that would for me greatly increase the Zen Zone!

Unique Spa Getaways

The Spa Penthouse Suites at Spa Ojai has landed a spot on my Goblet for sure. This year, the world-renowned Ojai Valley Inn gave us a brand new look at Spa Ojai and its adjoining Spa Penthouse Suites. In between spa treatments at the Spa Ojai, Spa Penthouse guests can take in sweeping views of the surrounding Ojai Valley. When they tire of the view, they can move inside and relax in their  1,500 square foot Spa Penthouse Suite. These suites are named Sunset and Moonrise Penthouse Suites and are each two bedroom accommodations with huge private outdoor spaces. Each boasts inspired design touches like handmade wool rugs and hardwood floors. The bathrooms are finished with Carrara marble. After looking at the photos I know I could find myself at the luxe outdoor lounge seating by the fire tables for al fresco evenings with a glass of wine for sure.

A Spa Cottage at Cedar Creek Spa at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, MO is also is calling my spa lover name. This Spa Cottage is directly adjacent to the luxury wilderness resort’s Cedar Creek Spa. The cottage is 680 square feet with exposed beams, an open floor plan with wood-burning fireplace, a wet bar, bathroom with an oversized luxury tub and separate shower. With a king-size bed, a private deck, and glass walkway overlooking the stream below, your serenity will begin before you make it to the actual spa. Then just imagine when you make it to the 18,000 square foot spa, which boasts natural stone, handcrafted stained glass, a grotto pool and an ice room. Enjoy a spa treatment in one of their 11 treatment rooms to finish your transformation.

La Quinta Resort & Club  in La Quinta, CA is giving us the option of a King Spa Villa Suite at the Spa La Quinta: The historic desert oasis offers private, luxury accommodations just steps from the resort’s 23,000-square-foot Spa La Quinta. This uber private serenity sanctuary offers both indoor and outdoor massages. I know what I would pick! How about you? Just steps away from the spa across the courtyard is the 900 square foot King Spa Villa Suite that sleeps up to four in case you want to make it a girls getaway. I highly recommend that choice.

With a private patio, a kitchen, a poolside location, and an expansive living space you do not even have to leave the entire getaway except to visit the spa. Nearby Joshua Tree National Park might be a good reason to tear yourself away for an afternoon. There guests can enjoy the ultimate desert “spacation.”

International Spa Getaways

Malliouhana, Auberge Resorts Collection in Anguilla, British West Indies Spa offers us their Three Bedroom Suite. This spa suite is perched above their Malliouhana Spa, which overlooks the white sands of the Meads Bay. The chic and colorful 4,500 square foot spa suite features three bedrooms, a separate living room, private patio and sun terrace overlooking the remarkable Caribbean waters. Their  new spa is only steps away. There guests can enjoy their spa treatments in one of six treatment rooms, which offer Auberge signature treatments or locally inspired Spa Journeys such as the Tropical Euphoria. This treatment begins with a rejuvenating foot scrub using local Anguillan sea salt, minerals and essential oils. This is followed by a customized invigorating body mask, refreshing mint foot massage and revitalizing scalp massage. You had me at Scalp Massage – of all the spa getaways that is a keeper for sure!

Before I ask you to pick a spa getaway….no need to pick…add them all to your own Goblet List!
