There’s no better place to hit the slopes than at one of Europe’s top skiing destinations. Offering tourists the chance to either learn or build on their existing skills, the continent’s many mountain resorts are arguably the best in the world. Coupled with the fact that many of these skiing spots also have luxurious spas, and you’ve got a holiday that’s going to do your mood and your body a world of good. So where should you head to this year for the best ski and spa destinations?
Europe has a wealth of ski resorts to choose from. So to help you out, I’ve picked the best ones for you!
Le Chabichou Courchevel 1850 – Savoie, France
The Le Chabichou Courchevel 1850 is almost impossible picturesque. It’s a grand, rustic alpine building situated between snow-capped mountains, with huge balconies from which you can take in the view. It’s right next to the Trois Vallées ski area, which has over 300 miles of well-maintained slopes – as well as cross-country and snowshoeing routes. The spa is a wonder too – give their ‘intense skiing journey’ experience a go.
Bagni di Bormio Spa Resort – Valdidentro, Italy
If you’re heading to Italy for your skiing holiday, then you should stay at the Bagni di Bormio Spa Resort. A luxurious mountain hotel that’s full of old world charm with very modern facilities, it’s the best in the area. An Alta Valtellina ski pass covers the neighbouring Santa Caterina and Livigno ski areas. If it’s the spa you’re interested in, then you won’t be disappointed. As well as 70 wonderful treatments, guests can also relax by taking a dip in the rooftop pool, You’ll never see a view like it again, guaranteed.
Tschuggen Grand Hotel Arosa – Arosa, Switzerland
Want to stay somewhere that feels like a home from home? Then the Tschuggen Grand Hotel Arosa is the place for you. With a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, it’s the ideal base for your skiing trip. The hotel is surrounded by 43 miles of piste catering to every level of skier – and there’s even a train to ferry you to the slopes. The spa is fantastic too – housed in a spectacular building, guests can soak in indoor and outdoor pools, and relax with a Thai hot stone massage. I found information about this resort on Tempston Luxury and immediately added the Tschuggen Spa to my bucket list!
Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa – Interlaken, Switzerland
Last but not least is the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa Interlaken. Known as the ‘Grand Dame’ of alpine hotels, this is a truly incredible place to stay. It’s situated close to the excellent ski areas of Wengen, Grindelwald and Mürren – offering you plenty of choice. The hotel is also blessed with not one, but two spas. The first has 16 rooms and a wealth of treatments on offer, while the second was recently built and offers seven exclusive treatments by Kanebo.
It’s not just the fun factor that has people coming to Europe to ski every year – it’s the boost to their health too. Regular skiing helps to build muscle, burn fat, keep your heart healthy and equally importantly, your mind in good shape too. You can give your mental health even more of a boost by taking the time to relax during your ski trip as well. A spa treatment is the perfect remedy for stress – something we should all keep at bay when trying to live healthily. So will you discover the benefits of taking to the slopes this year? If it’s good for you and is incredibly fun, well, it’d be silly not to!
