Okay most of you are used to me sharing with you all about the spas that I have visited and letting you know about how much I and you can enjoy them. So why am I telling Intercontinental’s hotels that I am sorry – especially the Intercontinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort and their Baan Thai Spa? This idyllic resort is somewhere that I have not had the luxury to visit recently or anytime, but I just had to share it with my readers and followers anyway. When you see the photos you will know why! Most of you know about my desire to get a beach massage and when I saw some of the awesome outdoor spa treatment photos on their websites I just had to share. SO – Sorry Intercontinental I don’t usually do this – BUT I just had to share your press release of what look truly IDYLLIC!

Indulgent treatments and leading spa products provide guests with a unique spa journey!

Intercontinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam unveils its holistic sanctuary, Baan Thai Spa, to complement the iconic property with a unique spa experience at its stunning cliff-top location.

At 120-metres high nestled on the side of a rolling green cliff, Baan Thai Spa offers unparalleled views of the tropical landscape and the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Thailand below, providing an ideal sanctuary for therapeutic treatments and unadulterated relaxation.

Upon entering the Baan Thai Spa, you may feel as though you’ve walked into a pampered space designed with luxury and relaxation in mind and enveloped in expert decorative style, character and thoughtfulness to every detail. The warm and magical ambience from the moment you enter gives a feeling of Thai home. Decorated in complimentary hues of calming light-blue and warming shades of yellow, the spa’s natural surroundings and the abundance of light and beautiful teakwood provide a peaceful environment for the guests, to help instill a sense of tranquility.

Guests at Baan Thai Spa may choose from a wide array of luxurious treatments and services. In all, the spa consists of five massage and treatment rooms, complete with private changing rooms and en-suite bathrooms. It also boasts one couples suite that offers a soaking tub for two, rain and steam showers and luxurious side-by-side treatment tables.

In addition, there is a Holistic and Ayurvedic Consultation Room and a Day Spa Room for express and salon services including manicure, pedicure and hair salon services. For post-treatment relaxation, there are two relax balconies that offer guests a sensory journey taking in the sights and sound of the nature that surrounds and its meditative quality.

To further enhance the guests’ experience, soothing sounds of nature and the gentle chants of the Orient are piped throughout the spa to help align the mind and connect with the environment. Hand-blended aromatherapy oils are used to create the spa’s signature scent, formulated by a Phuket-based pioneer in aromatherapy products, with all ingredients derived from organic and renewable resources.

The intimate experience of the “Baan”, which means “home” in Thai, is reinforced at the Tea Salon located at the heart of Baan Thai Spa, where ancient tea ceremony and time-honoured rituals are performed with great care and respect, paying homage to the spa’s Thai heritage. Each herbal tincture is personalised and has many healing properties which act to counter the effects of stress and pollution from today’s urban lifestyle and environment.

On the opening of the spa, Mr. Arnaud Girodon, General Manager of InterContinental Baan Taling Ngam Resort said:

“We are thrilled with the opening of the Baan Thai Spa, which complements the idyllic surroundings of our beautiful resort. Our guests can now enjoy another dimension of relaxation with the expert spa consultants to oversee their well-being.”

Baan Thai Spa offers a wide range of treatments which draws inspiration from both eastern and western spa philosophies offering a variety of Signature Treatments as well as Signature Harnn treatments which are exclusive to Baan Thai Spa.

The spa’s development has been overseen by the health and wellness consultant, Ms. Roxanne De Guzman, who has over 18 years’ experience as a yoga, fitness and spa management expert. She has developed all aspects of the 600sq meter spa, from design, staff recruitment and training to the development and customization of the treatments and therapies available.

Oriental Oil Massage, one of Baan Thai Spa’s most popular signature massages offers a fusion of the benefits of Thai pressure points (typically dry massage) together with pure massage oil using soothing Swedish effleurage strokes to allow floating movements, performed by trained therapists. This treatment is wonderful for soothing stress, relieving tension, increasing vitality and improving flexibility.

Baan Thai Spa will celebrate its grand opening on 3 July 2012, with business hours from 10am to 9pm daily. Treatments are available from THB 3,000* to THB 6,000*. For further details on the spa and its services, please refer to http://samui.intercontinental.com/spa-wellness
