It wasn’t so long ago that Tulum was a sleepy Mexican fishing village. Fast-forward a few years, and this desirable tourism hotspot has transformed into a nomadic traveler’s dream. Here, you can see striking Mayan ruins and miles of untouched mangroves.
Tulum’s white sand beaches are also sure to be a highlight of your stay, and they’re largely split into so-called ‘beach clubs’, which enable you to access onsite food and drinks, as well as sun loungers for sitting back as the Caribbean laps at your feet.
But with around 50 beach clubs to choose from across the hotel zone, where do you begin? Keep on reading as well help you to narrow down your options.
# 1 – Consider Clubs Associated With Your Hotel
If there’s a beach club associated with your hotel, then it makes sense to head there. This is especially true considering that hotel guests can often enjoy benefits like priority booking and sometimes even a lack of spending requirements.
You’ll especially want to make the most of this if you’re staying at locations like La Zebra Beach Hotel & Restaurant, which is linked to Lula Beachclub, where you can enjoy the same relaxed Caribbean vibes as in your room, but with a cocktail in hand. Other beach clubs partnered with hotels include The Motto Tulum and Delek, which are also both worth looking out for if you’re staying in either of those hotels!
# 2 – Know Your Needs
You might assume you’ll get roughly the same experience at any beach club, but that’s simply not the case. In truth, each club caters to an incredibly different audience, which is why it’s also worth simply knowing what you need on the day.
For instance, let’s say that you fancy a party vibe; clubs like Gitano Beach are sure to stand out here thanks to benefits like a barefoot beach disco. Alternatively, if you’re looking for more of a wellness escape, then you would do better to consider more peaceful options, like La Zebra as mentioned above, or Nomade Tulum, which is on a quieter stretch of beach that’s led to its fame as a fantastic retreat-like location.
# 3 – Consider Costs
It’s vital to note that Tulum beach clubs aren’t free. That doesn’t mean you’ll need to pay an entry fee in most cases, but entry is dependent on minimum spend amounts that can be pretty steep. That said, some clubs are sure to cost you more than others, so price should also factor into your decision here to avoid blowing your budget.
As stated, choosing the club partnered with your hotel is often best for costs, as you may be able to enter with no minimum spend, or at least a reduced one. Equally, it’s worth knowing which clubs will cost you the most, such as Bagatelle Tulum, compared with more affordable options like La Zebra, which provides famously great value per person.
Your beach club of choice really could make or break your Tulum stay, so make sure you get it right using these top tips.
