Spa breaks and spa escapes in general are your go-to when it comes to relaxing and unwinding. True relaxation can still be achieved at home, at your local campsite, or through simple daily shifts that regulate your nervous system.

It’s important to allow your body to release that tension inside, which is why it’s important to find moments of calm, where you can create those spa experiences without actually needing to be at a spa.

Create a home spa

You can always get that home spa vibes with the right products and by creating the ambience within the room you want to experience that spa in – which doesn’t always have to be your bathroom.

Aromatherapy is a great way to relax and a good way to calm your mind for a more restful night’s sleep. Diffuse essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus and chamomile for example.

The use of dimmed lighting can help to create a spa-like vibe. Swap any harsh overhead lights for lamps, candles and fairy lights. Opt for warm LEDs rather than harsh and clinical white.

Create a calming soundscape with a playlist or listen to nature sounds like the ocean waves, forest birds or rain in order to create a tranquil environment.

If you’re looking to upgrade your bath as a spa moment, then fill the bath with Epsom salts, as these help with muscle aches. Elevate the experience with a fluffy, warm robe and some cozy slippers to slip into afterwards.

Environmental and social changes

There are some environmental and social changes you can make to reach the state of relaxation you get when in a real spa.

Connect with nature, even if it’s for ten minutes, by spending that time in a green space, a park, or just with a walk around your neighborhood. You could always spend a short weekend at a local RV resort if you need more time in nature and away from the busyness of life.

Those small moments of reset can make a big difference to how you feel, so scan your body internally for any tension and sit in silence as you relax all of those areas..

Physical relaxation

To help with improving your mindset and that relaxed vibe you’re after that spas usually deliver, focus on physical relaxation.

Deep breathing exercises can be helpful, so consider some meditation or just practicing breathing techniques in general.

A DIY facial and massage is a great way to give yourself a bit of pampering. Put on a 10-minute facial mask, use a body scrub in the shower, etc.

Mental and emotional rest

A mental and emotional reset is something that can make you feel like you’ve just had a wonderful breakaway at a spa, even when you haven’t.

Try switching off from social media and technology for twenty-four hours on the weekend or when you’re taking time off work.

Think about starting a gratitude journal or journaling in general to help unload your mind of all that emotional and psychological burden you might be carrying.

Bringing those ‘spa’ moments in life is all about transforming your home and making small tweaks to daily habits and interactions to bring more peace into your life.
