If you’re considering an RV trip, especially if this is your first time ever having an RV trip, then you might have an idea in your head how it might be. Maybe you’re picturing something like that RV scene in a Goofy Movie, or maybe it’s the exact opposite, where it’s crammed, smelly, and uncomfortable. As you can see, two polar opposites, but it doesn’t need to be one or the other, well, nothing terrible at least.

But plenty of RV getaways are technically fun, but that doesn’t always mean they feel relaxing, polished, or even all that enjoyable once the packing mess, the cramped schedule, and the random inconvenience parade start rolling in. A regular trip gets the job done, but a luxury-feeling one, now that’s the kind of getaway that makes people feel like they’ve escaped real life for a minute instead of just dragging it onto the road with them (that Goofy movie scene might be a great example of this).

And really, that’s the whole point. Now, believe it or not, but luxury in this kind of setting isn’t about being flashy. Instead, you should see that it’s more about making better choices, cutting out the parts that feel cheap or stressful, and building a trip that feels smooth from start to finish. But where do you even begin?

It’s Really About the Destination

Alright, so one of the fastest ways to make an RV getaway feel more luxurious is to stop treating the destination like an afterthought, because that’s usually where the whole thing either levels up or falls flat. Which is why it’s really about the location you choose.

Basically, a better location changes the whole mood, like staying at a waterfront RV park, for example, instantly makes the trip feel more intentional, more relaxing, and way less like somebody just picked the first place with open spots online at midnight. Oh, and if you’re planning to bring a boat with you (which screams luxury) then you know for a fact you’ll use it if you’re around a lake or ocean. Again, this is one example, but it’s best to pick an RV park that has that resort feeling if you’re dead set on this feeling luxurious.

Make Comfort Feel Built In

A luxury RV trip should feel easy, and that usually comes down to comfort that’s already worked into the experience instead of comfort that has to be chased down the whole time. Seriously, just think about it here; nobody feels pampered while sleeping on a mattress that feels like an old sandwich, digging through cluttered cabinets for basic things, or trying to act like folding into a tiny dinette for every meal is somehow part of the charm. It’s not charming, you know it.

Which is why you might be better off making upgrades in that RV like a better mattress with nicer bedding (like linen fabric, for example), or better seating, better meal planning, honestly, just basic things like this (which isn’t all that expensive), can help a lot.

Consider Adding in Some Extras

Which does tie into what was being said just above, but it doesn’t have to mean overpacking or turning the RV into some rolling showroom, because that gets tacky fast, but it should mean bringing along the things that make the experience feel fuller and more enjoyable.

A better mattress was mentioned, depending on where you’re going, if you have a boat, you can tow that. It could mean having better drinks (instead of just drinking tap water or soda), having nice towels could be another example. But you get the point, everything should feel more tailored.
