SE Spa at Grand Velas Riviera Maya is now featuring an Organic Pineapple Mojito Scrub in its Exfoliation Room. A part of the spa’s renowned Water Journey, the Exfoliation Room is one of seven-steps pre-treatment that prepares the body for the full effects of the spa’s menu of treatments. The remaining wellness activities include a eucalyptus-scented steam room with chromotherapy, polar pool, sensory shower, mint ice room, sauna and central Hydrotherapy Pool with alternating hot and cold river stone walkways, stand up Jacuzzi, neck and back pressure jets, and bubble beds. Presented by the spa valet during the experience, the Organic Pineapple Mojito Scrub gets rid of dry flaky skin with the sea salt’s course exfoliation and then hydrates it with pineapple, known for anti-inflammatory properties and high amount of Vitamin C, and peppermint, that creates a cooling effect. For those who can’t make it to Five Diamond Resort before the end of August, Spa Director Leticia Fernandez has provided the recipe for one to make at home.

Organic Pineapple Mojito Summer Scrub

1/2 cup             Pineapple Cubes

2 tbsp               Coconut Oil

1/4 cup             Sea Salt

8 leaves            Peppermint

15 drops           Peppermint Essential Oil

  • Combine Peppermint Essential Oil and Coconut Oil in a small bowl.
  • In a food processor, blend pineapple and mint leaves until smooth.
  • When ready to use, add the sea salt and blended pineapple to the bowl of coconut oil.
  • Wet skin, lightly rub in circular motion on body (not on face) with a light pressure.

Inspired by the jungle and natural water pools of the Yucatan Peninsula, SE Spa at Grand Velas Riviera Maya is 90,000 square feet. The stone, plants and streams specific to the Riviera Maya landscape were incorporated into the curved, organic design of the two-level spa, set just below ground level to allow a living rock wall with plants and flowers, and even a small stream, to form part of its structure.
