Yes as a travel writer I get to travel the world with others travel writers, alone and sometimes with family.  Each type of trip has pluses and minuses determined by the needs of the magazine and my schedule.  Many times it refreshes me in such a way it is like as the teens say “a coming of age” experience no matter what the age as was my trip to Berlin, Germany this past week.

private-beach-diningAs I come home to my family, it is now time to think about a trip with my husband of 25 years.  I need a no brainer type of trip that is truly no a work trip, but something that is capable of returning one back to reality unscathed. After reading and hearing so much about the Caribbean from my travel pal Sue Campbell, who is always jetting off to the Caribbean.  Also I have heard her speak of her love of the Bucuti Beach Resort in Aruba.  Somewhere that would be perfect for a quick quiet getaway for any adult.  It is an adult only resort, which is always a no brainer when someone is looking for true relaxation.  Yes you can get it at a place that allows kids, but at least with them missing from the environment there is a  larger chance of a guarantee!

Consider Couples Resorts if you and your loved one are looking for an all inclusive resort Caribbean resort.  Here are the top picks for couples resorts in the Caribbean from the website Cheap Caribbean and my finds concerning couples resorts.

1. Bucuti Beach Resort and Tara Beach Suites – This adults-only boutique resort offers 14 acres of powder white sand on world-famous Eagle Beach in Aruba. Opt for a posh Tara Suite, an oceanfront, one-bedroom suite with a large balcony or terrace and living room. From the free, classic movies on the beach to the array of water sports, you can both indulge your inner child and let the real world slip into the background.

2. Secrets Maroma Beach  – If you fell in love to rock and roll, one of the top Caribbean resorts and our nominee for best couples resort on the Riviera Maya is Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun. Lavish suites and Unlimited Luxury ensure that you spend your time reconnecting and not worrying about details. There’s a stunning white-sand beach, an infinity pool and 12 smaller pools, gourmet dining and a fabulous spa. Relive your concert days at the Stargazing Rock n’ Roll Party on the beach with a bonfire, ice-cold beer, new friends and a live band. Let the beat take you back to where it all began for the two of you.

3. Secrets St. James – How about a chance at a honeymoon that surpasses your original? Two of the best Caribbean resorts for couples are sister properties in Montego Bay: Secrets St. James and Secrets Wild Orchid. Both are adults-only resorts perched at the end of a peninsula and feature pristine beaches, gorgeous facilities and beautiful, romantic spots that take advantage of the natural beauty of Jamaica and the Caribbean. Whether it’s a day of pampering at Secrets Spa by Pevonia or just the two of you taking advantage of the glorious white sands and turquoise waters, you’re sure to find romance here. The Unlimited-Luxury program means there’s no end to the included activities, gourmet dining and endless tropical drinks. Want to show her you haven’t forgotten that special date? Have the staff arrange a secluded candlelit dinner for two on the beach and it will be a night she’ll never forget.

4. Couples Resorts Tower Isles – After just returning from Berlin, I have decor on my mind.  In Berlin everything is cutting edge in modern design and decor, so why not have this at the beach too. The contemporary décor features both muted and bright murals and by featured renowned artists that include intricate pearlescent tile work along with  graphic black & white photos. Although modern you can still count on the traditional beachy colors of aqua and lime green. Here your room includes a  private balcony to take in those ocean breezes. I told you this was the perfect relaxing location. Of course we must speak of their spa (“Best in the Caribbean” by Travel+Leisure) for a perfect Zen day.  Also of course Spa Travel Gal would desire to visit a place with a fab pink piano bar for sometime of fruity refreshing beverage.

Tell them Ava sent you!
