1171Just in case we were not in the holiday spirit quite yet, Ski Utah has given us a blessing of 5 feet of snow to start the holidays off with a blast (of snow that is)!

Up to five feet of Utah’s famous Greatest Snow on Earth ® fell at the state’s ski and snowboard resorts December 15-19, 2012. The new snow is a welcome early Christmas present for all powderhounds.

This storm has enabled resorts to open additional terrain both on and off-piste. Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) was able to open Jupiter lift this past weekend, which is 43 days earlier than its 2011-12 opening date. With 105” year-to-date snowfall, PCMR has already received 42% of last season’s total snowfall – that’s almost half before Christmas. Utah’s other resorts continue to open terrain and many are nearing 100% open.

MOM TIP: Ski Utah also reminds parents that applications can still be submitted for the Ski Utah Fifth and Sixth Grade Passport program.  Fifth graders ski three times free at every Utah resort with the passport and Sixth graders get one free day at each Utah resort. The passport processing fee is $25 but increases to $35 after January 31, 2013.
