Cruise Dining

For many a cruise holiday is the idea of heaven; sailing across the seas in the sunshine, stopping off at a different location every day and having all of your conveniences to hand. However, there are some cruise ship myths which some holidaymakers take very literally, putting them off the idea entirely. If your reason for not going on a cruise is any of the below, you may soon change your mind. Here are a few cruise myths.

Sea Sick

Many people avoid cruise holidays through fear of sea sickness. The idea of spending your entire holiday feeling nauseous is understandably not appealing. It is true that the sea is a powerful force which often sees bad weather conditions. It is easy to avoid or minimise your chances of developing seasickness by carefully choosing your cruise ship.

Thanks to modern technology, you will find that seasickness is kept to a minimum on a medium sized vessel or large resort ship. If you do suffer with motion sickness, avoid small vessels, particularly clipper boats. Seasick holidaymakers are advised to look out for itineraries that stay close to the coast to minimise your chances of feeling sick at sea. Whilst on the ship, stay as close to the middle of the ship as possible.

Those who are prone to motion sickness are advised to take all necessary precautions on-board because it is impossible to avoid seasickness altogether. Stock up on whatever works best for you, be it medication, natural remedies or pressure bands.

Health

Many holidaymakers believe the rumour that cruise ships are breeding grounds for bugs and germs. However, you can be assured that cruise ships work alongside international health organisations to develop isolation policies which keep contagious bugs like the norovirus at bay.  Cruise ships are awash with hand sanitization and standards of food hygiene are always extremely high.

Dining

Another rumour which can put holidaymakers off cruises is the assumption that all dining is formal and you will have to sit with the same strangers at every meal. You can rest assured that this is not always the case. Many large cruise liners offer informal dining options with an open seating plan. On some of the biggest cruise liners such as Quantum of the Seas, you are welcome to eat at any time in the restaurants at no extra cost.

Enjoy It

Cruise holidays can be the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays you can have; miles from anywhere, able to do as you wish. Take in a relaxing massage, visit the lounge and take in the sun while watching people have a dip, all whilst on your way to your next stop. I can’t think of another holiday where you can get so much done while still travelling. It’s not like this even on the most luxurious airlines!

By searching for a cruise liner which offers the service you want, you will find that the myths do not apply to all cruise holidays.
