watermelon

When Ford asked me to be a Ford Agent and do a little spa travel in their new Ford Fusion Hybrid, I called up the The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation to see what was new on The Ritz-Carlton spa menu. Their seasonal offerings for summer are called the Summer Sensation section of their spa menu. So I knew it was time to arrive in style at The Ritz-Carlton Spa.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa offered to treat me to one of the items on Summer Sensation menu called Watermelon Sweet Summer Body Glow. Now, watermelon is not my first choice usually for a spa treatment or for that matter is any type of fruit or other seasonal items (i.e. chocolate pedis in February or pumpkin facials in October), but I thought I would give it a try. I always preach to spa gals all over the world that they need to get a good body scrub quarterly as the seasons change.

The Watermelon Sweet Summer Body Glow is officially Spa Travel Gal’s #1 Spa Treatment to Beat the Heat in 2013

Now that you know Spa Travel Gal has officially named the Watermelon Sweet Summer Body Glow the #1 Spa Treatment to beat the heat in 2013, let me tell you more about the experience.

vicheyThe Ritz-Carlton Spa Attendant for my service was Dee.  She was very welcoming and easy to talk to, which can be important in case you have any questions about your treatment. Dee was amazing at making me feel comfortable in the special Vichy Shower spa treatment room and describing to me every aspect of the treatment before it began in case I had any questions. (Well, you might say that is what they are suppose to do everywhere, but I can tell you that it does not usually happen – so I was not only amazed that Dee had anticipated any questions or concerns that I might have, she also did it with a finesse that I don’t see very often.) Even before the treatment began, I knew that I would request her again one day.

Official Description of the Watermelon Sweet Summer Body Glow – a warm Vichy shower polishes your skin with watermelon and basil rich in vitamin E, Rice Bran oil and a fine sweet sugar scrub. Seal it in with intense Shea butter moisture.

Spa Travel Gal’s Description of the Watermelon Sweet Summer Body Glow – A body treatment that made one feel like a Goddess – because only a goddess would be worthy of such a luxurious experience.

The aroma of the watermelon scrub made me want to drink it. The scent was very unique – but soon I decided it was  the scent of a watermelon vodka artisan cocktail.  This skin cocktail was created by Fresh Market and was one of Oprah’s Favorite Things.

I can’t say enough about the scrub itself, which was the most effective scrub I have ever had at a spa or at home for that matter. It is such a juicy slice of summer made from organic vodka, basil and watermelon seed oils with sugar and rice bran oil. My skin felt the results for weeks. Almost two weeks later, I can lean down and touch my legs and think whose are those they feel so luscious!

For you natural spa gals, the scrub is 97% organic, paraben free and sulfate free

There are only two things I would change about this spa treatment. It should start with a dry brush (but then I want every spa treatment to start with a dry brush) and it should finish up with a organic watermelon artisan cocktail (with or without the organic vodka).
