Tips for the Solo Female Traveler

Here are some tips for the solo female traveler that originally appeared in an article I wrote for Working Mother Magazine.

Some Working Mothers have to travel for business a lot. Most at some point in their careers have to travel and usually that is alone when for business. Whether one has to travel for a coference or a grand opening here are some great tips that the Sense Beach House has put together tips for the solo female traveler. These tips are are something that all of us should keep in mind as we travel solo for business or pleasure.

Location -  The last thing you want is to be kept up all night the night before a big meeting. You want to be conveniently close to the action, but not quite in the center of the party. Find a location like the Sense Beach House, which is tucked away between 4th and Ocean in South Beach’s trendy SoFi neighborhood, the cozy hotel provides a quiet refuge from the beach’s more bustling streets, while still within walking distance of dining, shopping and businesses.

Personalization - Prevent yourself from feeling home sick by finding a hotel that can be your home away from home. The Sense Beach House specializes in personalized service and guest experience. Designed to provide the atmosphere of a private Hampton’s beach house, the hotel has only 18 rooms, ensuring that each guest receives the attention they deserve, right down to the details like a morning newspaper available in the “parlor”. Parlors are also great to have a little friendly conversation with others so one does not have to be cut off entirely from others when traveling alone.

Connection - Staying connected to family and work is key when traveling. Check out the hotel’s Wi-Fi policy before you book. This will really help when your manager is reviewing your expense reports. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for Sense guests, whether they’re sending e-mails from the in-room work station or skyping their kids before bedtime.

Relaxation - Even the most savvy go-getters need a minute to breathe. Remember that you may be traveling for work, but you deserve a little you-time after nailing your big presentation. Kick back and relax by the pool, Sense Beach House is home to a rooftop oasis, or pamper yourself in-room with complimentary Molton Brown of London toiletries. Molton Brown just screams relaxation when it comes to inroom amenities at a hotel.
